Music Competition

Thank you very much to everyone who participated in the Music Competition this month. There were so many fine performances and the standard was extremely high indeed. Thank you also to Pickering and District Rotary Club for their support, and to Gareth Hudson, our experienced adjudicator, for coping well with making some tough decisions, and also providing excellent individual feedback to competitors.

Congratulations to the following pupils who were placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category:

Key Stage 3
  1. Conor Lally (Cornet)
  2. Rebekah Lally (Soprano)
  3. Lauryn Lee (Soprano)
Key Stage 4
  1. Hannah Richardson (Soprano)
  2. Jay Lee (Soprano)
  3. Guy Harris (Alto saxophone)

As the best placed singer and instrumentalist in each category, Conor Lally and Rebekah Lally (KS 3) and Hannah Richardson and Guy Harris (KS 4), will be invited to represent Pickering and District Rotary Club in the North Yorkshire round of the Rotary Young Musician of the Year Competition. This will be held on Saturday 8th March at the National Early Music Centre in York. It is a wonderful venue, and the standard of competition is very high, but I have no doubt that all four pupils will represent the school and Pickering Rotary well.
